We are coming together to protect our healthcare workers
The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) Students, in collaboration with allied healthcare students at Lakehead University and Laurentian University, are proud to join the rest of the province’s medical students in efforts to assist front-line healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.
Who We Are
A group of over 100 medical, allied healthcare, and engineering students, who alongside various community partners, decided to create a coordinated front for the fight against COVID-19 in Northern Ontario. Frontline healthcare providers are our friends, families, teachers and our future, which is why we decided to lend them a helping hand by sourcing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) through three avenues - PPE redistribution, PPE production (sewn and 3D printed), as well as fundraising. Servicing 35 communities and counting, from Kenora to the Muskoka’s, we strive to make sure that all of our communities are equipped to handle what is to come.
To date, we have collected the following PPE donations:
Gloves: 32224 | Hand Sanitizer: 32 | N95 Masks: 13288 | Surgical Masks: 17500 | Cloth Masks: 1798 | Dust Masks: 7450 | Boot Covers: 50
Disposable Gowns: 190 | Goggles: 33 | Sewn Caps: 250 | Ear Savers: 514 | Sewn Gowns: 39 | Face Shields: 64
With the help of our 3D printing volunteers, we have produced:
1468 - Face Shields | 6608 - Ear Savers
